BTTB: Derailed

A few weeks ago I heard a pastor at Gateway share this:

“When I was new on staff at a church, I went to the leadership with an idea. The pastor I spoke with responded this way, ‘That is a really good idea, and it would do a lot of good, but I don’t think now is the time to start something new with what we have going on here. Would you be willing to put aside your personal interests for the betterment of the team?'”

It hit me in my heart. I love writing here at my blog. I love reading God’s Word and sharing what He is teaching me with you. I love … my church. Everyday I get up and go to work helping the leadership of Gateway influence and enlarge the Kingdom of God. I love that. But, I don’t want to be a distraction or get derailed because I’ve spread myself too wide to be any good anywhere. I think I may not have anticipated the demands of my occupation well at the beginning of the year. But, when God cuts me back it is always so I can grow in a new direction. AND. I. THINK. THAT. IS. RIGHT. WHERE. I. AM.

I’ll be seeing what I can do to get something online this weekend with BTTB-but ask that you would be so patient with me as I move forward. Colleen from Deep Breath suggested we slow the pace. And I think that is a good plan. How about a twice a month post?

15th and last day of the month? And read what you can and post where you are! That sounds like a better plan to me. Just jump in. JUST. JUMP. IN. Wherever you are.

Let me know how you are doing — are you still hanging in there? Let me know. 🙂

  1. Still hanging, not writing. Glad God told you slow down before burnout! Have missed your video blog posts though, but I’ll survive. 🙂
Am reading now in 3. My regular NKJV, my Holman Christian Standard, and The Message. I’m loving doing the reading in all three. It’s deepening my understanding, though as always with my NKJ study Bible, I always get hung up doing more research into other chapters and verses when I read John MacArthur’s study notes! That’s good too!
