Simple Sunflower
“There something spectacular happened:
Jesus’ face began to glow and gleam
and shine like the morning sun.”
Matthew 17:2 The Voice
Over the last few years, Michelle has been impressed by God as He has spoken to her about her identity in Christ through Wildflowers. A few years ago she traveled to Northern California to the Napa Valley area where they saw fields of Sunflowers ripe for the harvest.
As they drove past she found it remarkable that all the heads of the sunflower were bowed low as if in prayer. She soon realized the heads of the sunflowers were bowed low as their face was completely filled with seeds and they sat waiting to surrender their seed to the harvest.
Then she remembered reading about how Sunflowers “turn their face to the sun” tracking it across the sky. The scientific term is heliotropism, but as she considered these things and wondered at the bowed heads of these beautiful wildflowers she heard the Lord speak to her heart: “Sunflower, Sunflower turn your face to the Son, soak in the radiant beams as the seeds of love fill your heart. And when the day of harvest comes, Sunflower bow your head and surrender your heart to the Father.”
